Omsk folk-group Nytt Land warmed up for Wardruna group in Moscow 

It has been the first visit for Omsk folk-group to the European part of the country. The day before there was the concert of the famous Wardruna group in Moscow they are known for playing Norway folk music. It was the first and yet the only concert of Wardruna group in Russia and Nytt Land group from Omsk warmed up for Wardruna. According to the traditions Omsk group played only traditional north European instruments. Altogether there were 2000 people at the concert because the RED club can host only that amount of people. “We spent two days with the guys from Wardruna and we have learnt many interesting things. When you do specific things and communicate with the people that do the same it’s one thing but such contacts help you to go further and inspire you”, says Anatoliy Pakhalenko one of the musicians. The north folk is becoming popular and Nytt Land group is trying to make it more famous. For example in April the group presented their new album called Sköpun which means formation or creation as the guys say the can find inspiration in such things as beauty and Siberian nature, books and folk music. After the concert many people left their good reviews about Wardruna performance. Nytt Land group also wasn’t left without public attention they were praised as the best folk group in Russia. Moscow concert was the starting point of Nytt Land tour now they are heading to Tver and after that to Saint-Petersburg and they will finish it in Vyborg.

French actress came for internship to Omsk 

French actress Anne-Laure Dubois will take part in play of Lyceum theatre which will combine two languages Russian and French. Thanks to the contacts of Lyceum theatre direction and their colleagues from France this project was made in true. Anne-Laure Dubois and her teacher asked Sergey Timofeev the art director for the internship in Omsk and they received the positive answer. “When we were at the festival I was already amazed by the level of actors and the level of theatre itself so when I took a year leave to travel around the world my first destination was Omsk and Lyceum theatre. I want to use this time wiser and find out as many interesting things about Siberia as possible, to learn Russian language and Russian theatre via joint project with Lyceum theatre. Sergey Timofeev asked me to write about my travelling experience in order to use these texts as the basis of the play”, says Anne. The play will combine Russian and French languages and the actors from Lyceum theatre will play there. Director of the project which called Travelling. Insomnia will be Evgeniy Babash. “It won’t be the travel journal or travel notes it will be the story of a girl who cannot fall asleep. But as soon as she manages to do that for a few minutes in front of the audience will appear characters, sounds and objects; maybe it was real or maybe it was just only her imagination”, says the director “Anna saw one of my plays and came to the rehearsal after that she said that I am a surrealist and I got interested in the idea to make surreal play together with Anne”. The rehearsal has already started the premiere is on May 27 at 7 o’clock but people also will be able to see it on May 31st, June 1st and 8th at 7 o’clock.
