Novosibirsk scientists can detect cancer without biopsy 

The specialists from Institute of Chemical Biology and Fundamental Medicine have invented a new method which helps to diagnose malignant tumour by blood test. The method is based on scientists’ discovery – the trigger of cancer diseases is exosome produced by tumour cells they can be easily separated from human blood. Such method turned out to be quite successful for identifying breast cancer it helps to identify this type of cancer at the first stage with 71% of sensibility and specificity of 89% and the results are much better than world analogues. Plus by using this method one doesn’t have to go through an unpleasant procedure of biopsy.

Omsk Paralympians are on a roll 

The international fencing tournament Tournoi de ville ombré 2016 handi-valises which was in Paris has come to an end. Omsk Paralympians won a lot of medals outrunning their rivals the French tournament differs from others by one thing it gathers together not only Paralympians but usual sportsmen and they compete at the same level. The best sportsman of the tournament became Roman Fedyaev who took first place in foil fencing and second place in sword fencing. Artur Usupov became first in sword fencing and third one in foil fencing as for Julia Efimova she was first in sword fencing and second in foil fencing. By the way the coach of our Omsk Paralympian team is Valeriy Purtov the Honored coach of Russia, the champion of USSR and Russia in fencing and his team has all chances to be a part of Paralympic which are going to be in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from September 7 to September 18, 2016. The team partner is Interstate Corporation for Development.

82-year old student 

Monic Meyer the professor of economics every spring leaves her home in the Alps and goes to Siberia in order to live in dormitory and improve her level of Russian. An unusual student goes to classes with other students who can easily be her grandchildren Monic Meyer speaks Russian quite well but she admits that something she cannot understand right away. “Russian is a very hard language for me to learn and the most terrifying for me is the verb all these different forms of it – it seems to me that I would not be able to handle all that”, says Monic. In order to be the part of Russian culture the 82-year old student lives in dormitory and all this doesn’t bother her because she says that the main thing is the good language practice and good neighbors. She has been dreaming about trip to Siberia since she was 12-year old girl after she had read the book of Jules Verne Michael Strogoff: The Courier of the Czar and since then she really wanted to go to the city where her favorite hero lived. But she made her dream came true only when she retired and she made it despite the protests from her relatives. “They thought I was crazy and they kept asking me why am I doing this and that it was absolutely useless for me”, says Monic. Despite her age Monic is going to buy another ticket and continue her studying.
