85-year-old man from Omsk became a champion of World Cup in cross country skiing

This year the tournament took place in Syktyvkar from March 10 to March 20 and there were over 800 sportsmen from 17 countries. All the sportsmen aged from 31 to 91 were divided into 12 groups and the participants had to run the races of 5, 10, 15, 30 and 45 kilometers and also there were relay races. Russians got 277 medals where 94 are gold medals, 88 silver and 95 bronze. The forigners got 148 medals where the Finns are on the second place, Italians are on the third and then in turn go the Norwegians, Swedes, Swiss, Germans and French. Omsk sporsmen also made their contribution for example 85-year-old man Alekander Ivlev got two medals in races of 10 and 15 kilometers. Two other Omsk sportsmen Evgeniya Sharapova and Tatiyana Postnikova became bronze champions of World Cup.

Today in Phuket, Kingdom of Thailand, was launched the eighth forum of Association of Pacific Rim Universities. The main theme of the forum is Science, business ans society: new partnerships and development of competence. The organizer of the forum is Dr. Kevin Downing the Director of Knowledge, Enterprise and Analysis at City University of Hong Kong. The science and business representatives from many other countries took part in the forum like Thailand, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, Mexico, The Great Britain and Republic of South Africa. Tomsk State University and Far Eastern Federal University were the representatives of Russia. The forum will come to an end on march 27.

Omsk citizen invented the yacht which will help to conquer Arctic regions

Sergey Shcherbakov presented the project of the unique vessel it is 30-meter long yacht called Siberia-East can be used in order to make researches in Arctic regions. By 2020 the vessel will be ready to sail to Arctic regions' shores. The investor of the project is Russian geographical assosiation and 90% of the yacht's parts can be manufactured by Omsk interprises.
